Summer Grilling Safety Tips

There is no better time to start thinking about cooking outside than when the weather starts to warm up and it stays light outside longer.

While grilling can be a great alternative to cooking inside, did you know that almost 60% of all grill fires on residential properties occur in the summer?  These fires, that can damage property and cause injury and even death, are often preventable.

Window Covering Safety Council Recalls to Repair All Roman and Roll-Up Blinds Due to Risk of Strangulation – Baby Safe Homes

The US Consumer Product Safety Commission in conjunction with the Window Covering Safety Council has issued several recalls today for roman and roll-up blinds due to risk of strangulation hazard. Children can get their heads caught in the cords used to pull up the shades and there have been several incidents recorded. The CPSC has been investigating reports on these types of window coverings for the last 15 years, working with manufacturers to keep window coverings safe.

The Window Covering Safety Council is offering a free repair kit for these types of window coverings and consumers are encouraged to remove the coverings until an appropriate fix can be applied or they replace the covering with a cord free option. Consumers can contact the WCSC at www.windowcoverings.org or by calling (800) 506-4636 anytime to receive the free repair kit.
